Lava from volcano in Hawaii reaches critical insular highway

Fast-flowing rivers of lava emitted by the Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii were coming toward one of the island’s main highways this Friday, Dec. 2, after officials described the town as dangerous with a depleted road system.

The world’s largest active volcano erupted on Sunday night after a gap of nearly 40 years and spewed lava fountains and From above it came out molten rocks up to 60 meters high.

Lava flows from Great Crater’s third fissure reached speeds of up to 40 meters per hour on the last day, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported this Friday.

The officials have given details of this in their recent report. Lava Chief Daniel K. Located 5.2 kms from Inouye Highway (Saddle Road) and according to what has been seen in the last few hours, the lava river should reach this road artery in a week.

“However, there are many variables at play and both the direction and timing of the flow are fluid and are expected to change from hours to days,” he explained.

Seva noted that the third fissure is the one that generates the largest lava flows, while the first two feed rivers further down the slope. The fourth fissure ejects the flow of this fiery material which moves towards the northeast.

for now, No property is at risk from the event, USGS highlights.

“Our seismic monitoring detects tremors (high seismicity rates) at the location of the currently active fissure. This indicates that magma is still being supplied, and activity is likely to continue until we see this signal.” Let’s see,” said the USGS.

Officials have warned that the winds could carry volcanic gas, fine ash and strands of basalt glass known as Pele’s hair.

These threads, measuring up to two metres, form when lava particles cool rapidly in the air.

He was named after Pele, the goddess of volcanoes in Hawaii. they can be very fast and They represent a potential hazard of injury to the eyes and skin.

Mauna Loa (“Big Mountain”) is the largest volcano on Earth by surface area and covers half of the Big Island, making it larger than the rest of the Hawaiian Islands combined.
