The 1,310 promises registered at www.laguaguadelaspromesas.com during the Patron Saint Festivities of Gran Canaria have arrived at the feet of the Virgen del Pino in the Basilica of Villa Mariana in Teror. As is tradition, Global publishes a book that collects prayers, messages and promises dedicated to the patron saint, which will be part of the Archive and Museum of Sacred Art of the Parish.
Myriam, for example, promises that she will always do things “with love, not for love”, María wants her siblings to have a good relationship again or the promise of Chana, who wants her son “will leave the world he joined” .
The book has arrived at the municipality of Teror on board The Bus of Promises with the delegation from the Global interurban transport company received at the doors of the Basilica by the parish priest of Villa Mariana, Jorge Martín de la Coba and the mayor of the town, Sergio Nuez Ramos.
This is the fourth edition of the Global solidarity initiative that transforms the pledges registered on the website www.laguaguadelaspromesas.com into kilos of food and which this year has reached 1,310 pledges, 70% more in 2022 where 769 messages were registered.
Health continues to be the most recurring factor among the promises registered with 38.4%, followed by fate with 11.22%, work with 9.6% and love with 9.08%. There is a group of other types of motivation. which registered 413 messages, 31.5% of the total. Daily life is very much in prayers to the Virgin, where there is even a message asking that the price of potatoes be lowered and avoid speculation, and another, signed by Jenny, who prays that ” no more stolen. kisses.”
The general director of Global, Víctor Quintana, thanked the citizens for their participation in this initiative that since 2020 has brought a message of hope and unity to the entire population. “For Global it is a source of pride to see that the initiative continues to have such important support to achieve the goal of helping those who need it. We would like to thank each of the 1,310 people who participated in our initiative , which we hope will bring relief to the most vulnerable families on the Island.
The parish priest of Villa Mariana, Jorge Martín de la Coba, thanks again for the Global initiative “which makes it easier for the promises and messages of thanks to reach the Virgin in this book, as well as the special tool of transportation that makes it easier for patrons to reach Teror comfortably and safely.”
For his part, the mayor of Teror, Sergio Nuez, considered that “The Bus of Promises to the Virgen del Pino has been a complete success, as has the campaign that Global has done for citizens to use public transportation to come to the Teror in the Feast of our patron saint. We are grateful from the Teror City Council that this solidarity initiative, born with the pandemic, continues and that it is consolidated every year with many promises, which means a greater offering to the Virgen del Pino and contributions to charitable organizations.
Various Global collaborating entities have also joined the initiative, increasing the value of pledges registered on the website. Next week, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Global will deliver the tons of food collected in this fourth edition to the Food Bank, Cáritas and the Red Cross.
