UK and Ireland regional distributor Sloan has ordered two more AW109 light twin helicopters. In the past 12 months, Leonardo has entered total orders for around 15 private or corporate helicopters in this sector, including a mix of the AW109 GrandNew/Trekker and five AW139s, all expected to be delivered in 2023-2025.
Leonardo’s continued success in the UK and Ireland VIP/corporate helicopter market was further expanded when its regional distributor Sloane announced orders for an AW109 GrandNew and a lightweight AW109 Trekker during an official ceremony at EBACE 2023 in Geneva. The contract clearly demonstrates the continued strong market demand in the UK for the popular AW109.
David George, President of Sloan Helicopters, said: “We are proud to further strengthen our long-standing partnership with Leonardo through the order of two more aircraft. Eight new helicopters have been delivered since the last EBACE and more to come, This exemplifies Sloan’s commitment to both the rapidly expanding Leonardo products and the development of the UK and Irish helicopter market. The addition of these two airframes further strengthens Leonardo’s position as a leading helicopter manufacturer in the VIP/corporate market And we are honored to have played a key role in this achievement.”
In July 2022, Sloan confirmed its dealer agreement for the period 2022–2024, covering both the variant and the AW169 Light Intermediate Twin model. The long term success between Sloan Helicopters and Leonardo was established in 1995, when Sloan became the sole distributor of Leonardo’s VIP/corporate helicopters in the UK and Ireland. As part of this collaboration, around 110 Leonardo commercial helicopters have been delivered to operators and private users in the UK and Ireland.
The distribution agreement has delivered continued customer benefits by dramatically reducing delivery times and providing customers with a full range of product expertise and support packages, as well as helping Leonardo maintain its position as a market leader. have helped.
