Lewandowski’s score at Bayern secures the win for the 60th goal of 2021

MUNICH (NWN) – Robert Lewandowski scored his 60th goal of the year as leaders Bayern Munich registered a 2-1 win against Freiburg in the Bundesliga first unbeaten on Saturday.

Lewandowski knocked the ball from close range in the 76th minute to redirect a shot from Leroy Sane’s effort. Of his 60 goals in 2021, 51 have come for Bayern and nine for Poland. Lewandowski set a single-season scoring record for the Bundesliga in 2020-21 by scoring 41 goals.

Leon Goretzka gave Bayern the lead in the 30th with a sleek team passing move and could have scored more in the second half when he hit the post with one shot and clipped the crossbar with the other.

Janik Haberer ensured a nervous finish scoring for Freiburg in extra time as Bayern conceded their 10th goal in four games in all competitions.

NMECHA on the form

A day after receiving his first call-up to the German national team, striker Lukas Nemecha scored the game’s only goal in Wolfsburg’s 1–0 win over Augsburg.

Namecha led Paulo Ottavio’s cross in 14th to score in his third consecutive game in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. It marked the start of new coach Florian Kohfelt’s win at Wolfsburg after a 2-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen last week and a 2-1 loss to Salzburg in the Champions League.

goalkeeper in attack

Both goalkeepers tried to score as Bochum beat Hoffenheim 2–0, but neither worked.

Bochum was already leading 1–0 on a goal from Soma Novothny when he won the penalty and selected goalkeeper Manuel Riemann to take it, but he blew the ball too far from goal.

In stoppage time, Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann went to the opposing penalty area for a corner, causing Bochum’s Milos Pantovic to score a counterattack into the empty net from inside his own half.

Relegation-threatened Armenia Bielefeld beat Stuttgart 1–0 to register their first league win of the season, thanks to a counter-attack by Japanese winger Masaya Okugawa.

Second-placed Borussia Dortmund visit Leipzig on Saturday.
