According to the Ministry of Health of Libya, the death toll may reach 10 thousand.
Currently 3 thousand people have died due to Hurricane Daniel that hit Libya on September 9 and the subsequent floods. According to various media reports, 7 to 10 thousand people are missing. There were only 700 bodies identified.
123 soldiers who participated in the rescue operation are also missing. The death of 12 soldiers has been confirmed. The biggest problem is that selected airports in the country are unable to land any heavy or cargo aircraft there. This is the reason why it is difficult to give help here.

The situation is out of control in the eastern part
- According to the reports of ‘The Guardian’ and ‘Al Arab Monitor’, the situation in the eastern part of Libya is still not under control and that is why the death toll has increased from 700 to 3000 in just 24 hours. The number of missing people also increased from 200 to 10 thousand between Monday and Tuesday.
- There is also a port in the town of Derna. There are two dams in it and both are broken. As a result, almost the entire city was swallowed by the flood. 700 people died in this town alone. The situation is so bad that there is no place even to bury the dead bodies.
- Health Minister Abdul Jalil said the death toll exceeded 3 thousand. According to him, at the moment we consider the number of dead to be 3 thousand, but in the circumstances, it seems that it will also reach 10 thousand. Besides this, more than one lakh people may be missing. It’s hard to say anything concrete right now.
Libya said that the condition of some airports in the country is not good and large or cargo aircraft cannot land here. Despite this, Turkey managed to send some relief material here.

Impossible to reach in many places
- The Minister of Health said- The situation in the Derna area is so bad that many areas are inaccessible. So we can only guess what the situation is on the ground. Dead bodies can be seen floating in the water in many places. Dead bodies have been rotting in many houses and because of this it is dangerous to spread diseases. I think 25% of the city of Derna was destroyed.
- Jalil added – When the final numbers come, maybe the world will be surprised. Such bad conditions happened only in 1959. Many countries of the world offered help, but it remains to be seen how they will help. The airport is not safe and the roads are not safe.
There is no single government in Libya since 2011. There is conflict among the tribes here and because of this the situation has become very difficult after the flood.

Two governments in the country since 2011
- The dictator Muammar Gaddafi was killed in 2011. Since then, Libya has been divided into two parts. Here two governments or two administrations are working in different areas. One group is Gaddafi’s supporters and the other is tribal. The areas of Tripoli and Torbuk were ruled by private militias or tribes and this is where most of the people were killed.
- According to a report in ‘Al Arab’, no road has been built in Libya since 2011. Currently, Turkey has sent a medical team of 84 people and some medicine to the city of Benghazi.
- According to the UN, the situation in Libya is being monitored and some emergency plans are also being developed. However, in order to provide aid there, aid must be taken from other countries. According to an official, the situation in Libya is similar to what happened after the earthquake in Turkey and Syria a few months ago. First of all we need to understand the condition of the land.
