Sandra and her husband embarked on the purchase of a van in the spring of 2021 “to favor a mode of family transport”, advances the former biker, who traded her bike for a van.
A good mode of vacation for small budgets
“It was not easy to find the rare pearl. We have been confronted with a lot of insurance fraud and scams concerning the vehicle papers. Until we get our hands on a Renault Master van in Orange (Vaucluse) for the modest sum of 4,000 euros. At that price, we didn’t hesitate for a moment,” says Sandra, with satisfaction.
Limited by a small budget, Sandra and her “handyman” husband have retyped everything themselves from A to Z, scrupulously following tutorials on the internet, for a cost price of 5,000 euros.
This summer, the little family went to Ariège, and had a blast. “What we enjoy the most is leaving without knowing where we are going. I believe that what all people like us are looking for with a van is freedom”.
In search of autonomy and authenticity
Following a car accident in 2015, Jeffrey Auzemery and his wife Ida separated from their vehicle to skip the truck. And when the family grows, in 2020, with the arrival of little Zoé, they opt for a larger size and more equipment. “We pushed the layout to the maximum for the sake of comfort, but above all autonomy. Our wish is to be able to do what we want when we want”, insists Jeffrey.
For these freedom seekers and adventurers at heart, the downside of the van vacation boom is a loss of thought about the process before starting. “Since the covid, the trend has boboyized. Everyone wanted to have their van fitted out, but for that, you still need to have a bit of a “roots” spirit and love nature. The slightly negative observation is disrespectful behavior, whether towards the environment or other campers. “. Bobo or not, the trend perfectly suits Zoé, 2, for whom “the truck is like a big doll’s house”.
