It seemed impossible, but 15 years after Liv Tyler was Edward Norton’s girlfriend in ‘The Incredible Hulk’, her character will return to amaze the Cinematic Universe.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler has been cast in Captain America 4, now titled Captain America: The New World Order. She will play the role of scientist Betty Ross, the daughter of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who was recently portrayed by William Hurt in several films and is now played by Harrison Ford in the new installment.
Liv Tyler and Edward Norton are the only ones outside the MCU. are
“The Incredible Hulk” was released in the summer of 2008 as the second Marvel Studios movie, after Iron Man’s journey officially inaugurated the MCU. Edward Norton brought Bruce Banner/The Hulk to life, but left the franchise and was replaced by Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers (2012).
Although actors from that film have appeared in other projects over the years, Liv Tyler seemed to be gone. General Ross (Hurt) had a role in Captain America: Civil War (2016), while Tim Roth, who played the villain Abomination, was a key part of the Disney+ series She-Hulk. Tim Blake Nelson, another actor from ‘Incredible Hulk’, will also return for the New World Order.
Also on the list are Carl Lumbly, the late former super soldier Isaiah Bradley, who played after him in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier; Danny Ramírez, who returns to Joaquín Torres from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier; and MCU newcomer Shira Haas. Anthony Mackie will star in the new film Sam Wilson, donning the mantle of Captain America for the first time on the big screen.
Cloverfield Paradox director Julius Onah is helming the film, which is set in Atlanta. Winter Soldier series creator Malcolm Spellman wrote the script with Dalan Musson.
Liv Tyler is known for her work on iconic films like Armageddon and Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, not to mention 1990s classics like The Empire Strikes Back.
