Liverpool are set to sign Daichi Kamada, a player from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. It was also wanted by Milan.
The midfielder has verbally agreed to join the Italian club, but Calcio Mercato reports the Reds believe they could make a last-minute move to sign him.
Kamada has been linked with various clubs in recent weeks but it seemed he was on the verge of a move to Serie A.
The British squad is in need of reinforcements to its midfield ahead of next season.
The 26-year-old has been in stellar form in the Bundesliga, registering 16 goals and seven assists in all competitions for Frankfurt.
He will be out of contract from next month and could be seen as a no-brainer. Liverpool are set to lose the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner, who also have no links after June 30.
Kamada could provide vital depth for a club looking to revamp the club.
AC Milan have not scheduled medicals for Daichi Kamada yet — plan was for beginning of next week but not booked or guaranteed until he signs. 🔴🇯🇵
At the moment, agreement is still just verbal — contract not signed yet.

Overcome klopp
The Reds are close to signing Alexis McAllister after agreeing personal terms. There has also been interest in Mason Mount, but it now looks like the player will be joining Manchester United.
The Red Devils have touched base on him and now it looks like they are preparing to make an offer on him.
The market opens in less than a week and clubs are doing their best to close deals as quickly as possible.
Jurgen Klopp has been eyeing a number of footballers over the past year and is now close to achieving the goal of renewing his squad.
Getting knocked out of the Champions League is a huge blow and something the club would not like to see happen again.
