Fans probably didn’t think the time would come, but there are already enough titles to create a list of the lowest-grossing Marvel movies. So far it has been considered invaluable and despite the fact that not all of them have reached one billion, the fact is that with each studio tape the collection of its predecessors is exceeded and the results are satisfied.
And it’s that before finding “bad data”, we basically had to go to the first MCU premieres, but they couldn’t really be considered bad because they were a success in their time. 585 million for Iron Man in 2008? It’s a definite success, but today as a global box office it’s going to be a real disaster.
You only have to see the events of recent years to know it. For example, Ant-Man grossed nearly $519 million, a decent start for a franchise that might be surprising given the comedy genre. However, after 8 years, Quantumia is expected to reach almost 600 million (time 469.6) and will be discharged for the failure of the company.
As Variety reports, this data does not justify the poor results of Black Widow, Shang-Chi or Eternal, since these three films were released right in the middle of the pandemic, and the first ones also had a simultaneous release on Disney+. Not to mention that third parties in general tend to be more exciting than second parties (this happened with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Avengers…).
So let’s take a look at the 10 lowest grossing Marvel movies (ordered from lowest to highest) and see where Ant-Man 3 falls on this list, for now. Of course, although it may seem that some of these titles have been published very little, it is worth remembering that a hundred or 15 years ago, exceeding three hundred million dollars was already considered a success. Let us see who is in all these things.
- The Incredible Hulk – (2008) – 264,770,996 million
- Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) – 370,569,774 million
- Black Widow (2021) – 379,751,655 million
- Eternal (2021) – 402,064,899 million
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) – 432,243,292 million
- Thor – (2011) – 449,326,618 million
- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Solace (2023) – 469,656,040 million (now)
- Ant-Man (2015) – 519,311,965
- Iron Man (2008) 585,796,247 million
- Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) – 622,674,139 million
Other companies want less gross films to reach their 600 million dollars, but of course compared to billions for Spider-Man, Avengers, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Iron Man 3, Civil War… Well you get it. idea No? We’ll see how the next releases of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol III and Marvel should fare. Who knows, we might be in for a surprise and the list may be sooner than expected.
