“It balances things out,” Jamie said.
The Crusaders got their first semi-final win courtesy of the No. 3 doubles team of junior Molly Poehling and sophomore Grace Imhoff, who defeated sophomore Ava Smith and senior Olivia Schneider 6-2, 6-2.
Molly Poehling started the regular season playing the number 3 doubles with twins Hannah Poehling, but the pair failed to mesh.
“We get along when we’re not playing together,” Hannah said.
Hannah Poehling played a tough match at No. 4 singles, but suffered a 6-3, 2-6, 1-6 loss to Regis chief Ashley Chilson.
“Once we got them in the right places, they were huge contributors to us,” Pohlings’ Kondersuk said.
Molly mentioned that the sisters did not make good couple partners because of poor communication. The Johnson fraternity twins are both 6 feet tall.
“We thought it would be easy to get mad at each other,” Molly said. “Sydney and Jamie are good together and can talk to each other, but Hannah and I get into a little fight on the court.”
When the Johnson and Pohling sisters gather, smiles, laughter and good-natured pranks abound. Jamie Johnson said of his relationship with Sydney, “The bottom line is we like each other and Hannah and Molly don’t.”
