During its third quarter, TDS Telecom agreed to add 270,000 new residents across four states to its broadband infrastructure plan, the company said in a statement on Friday.

Completed this week, the paved pump track at Aldo Leopold Park is the first of its kind in Madison, providing a new feature for the South Side neighborhood and giving riders throughout the community access to something they’re looking for They had to drive for two hours earlier.

The telecommunications firm said it entered the state of Montana, and launched new fiber projects offering 2,000-megabit speeds in Wisconsin, Idaho and North Carolina. TDS saw a 31% increase in overall broadband revenue in its third quarter, along with a 7% increase in customers seeking internet connections through the company.

TDS said Friday that 1,000-megabit speeds are offered in 57% of the company’s footprint.

Because of that growth, TDS said it plans to invest in fiber in even more existing high-speed broadband products and services, as well as in new markets.

“Fiber is the most affordable long-term solution to deliver the best broadband experience. We continue to refine our market selection criteria and are highly confident in the process,” TDS Chief Financial Officer Vicki Villacrez said in a statement on Friday.

So far, TDS said it has completed the construction of 51 “fiber addresses,” which have already added 20,000 residents in the third quarter. But progress is slower than planned to “allow for complications” and “delay in contractor scheduling”.
