New Delhi: Maharashtra In the United States, 4,196 new Covid-1 cases were reported on Tuesday, bringing the number of infections to 158,880 in August, about 33% less than in July.
In July, 239,863 cases of covid were registered, up from 316,293 in June. The total number of coronavirus cases reported in Maharashtra has now reached 6.464 million and the death toll due to the disease has reached 137,313. Mortality fell 16% in August, when 4,208 covid-related deaths were reported. 5,020 died in July and 7,542 in June.
Dr Subhash Salunkhe, Adviser to the Government of Maharashtra for Covid-1 Management, said there were some concerns in the state despite the declining number of infections. “There is no shortage in some districts like Pune, Kolhapur and Satara,” Salunkhe said.
In Mumbai, 323 new cases of covid and one death were recorded on Tuesday, bringing the number of victims in the city to 15,977 in August.

As the number of cases dropped in mid-August, 13,453 (87.9%) of the city’s 15,290 coveted beds were empty as of Tuesday morning. The 15,290 beds include general beds, oxygen beds, ICU beds, pediatric ICU beds, neonatal ICU beds and ventilator beds for covid patients.
According to official figures, 6,838 (90%) of the 7,595 oxygen beds, 1,639 (73%) of the 2,243 ICU beds and 883 (68%) of the 1,289 ventilator beds were empty. Of the 39 pediatric ICU beds, 37 were empty and 22 of the 28 neonatal ICU beds were empty. The data showed that 66 or 51% of the 127 beds were empty for dialysis of covid cancer patients.
Mangla Gomare, executive health officer of the public health department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, said, “We have seen beds being emptied in the last two-three weeks. The decline in cases seen in August is largely responsible for this.
