Mahindra Scorpio-N Launch – Crazy Pricing!

After years of testing, Mahindra has finally delivered what we have been waiting for. Yes, it has finally unveiled the Scorpio-N today. So what’s new in Scorpio-N? The Scorpio-N is coming with a lot of new things, and we will cover everything about the launched Mahindra Scorpio-N.

The Scorpio-N starts at Rs 11.99 Lakh (approx Rs 14.43 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai)) and goes up to Rs 19.49 Lakh (ex-showroom) (approx Rs 23.62 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai)). You can see the variant wise price in the above image. Mahindra has strategically priced each variant to suit different segments of the car. They have kept the Scorpio-N priced affordable and have managed to offer more power and features to each and every car they have compared so far.

The test drive starts from July 5 in 30 cities. Bookings will start from July 30, at 11 am, through their dealerships and website. Delivery will start from the festive season. The Scorpio-N is available in seven color options (Deep Forest, Napoli Black, Everest White, Red Rays, Dazzling Silver, Royal Gold and Grand Canyon). Mahindra is using the Z nomenclature for the Scorpio-N. So, we have the Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8L. All variants come with petrol and diesel options. 4WD option is also available on all variants except Z2.

So how big is the Big Daddy of SUVs? First things first, Scorpio-N is big. For reference, here are the dimensions. Its length is 4,662 mm, width is 1,917 mm and height is 1,857 mm. Dimensions are almost at par with D-segment SUVs like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor.

The Scorpio-N gets a major design change. On the front, we have a new grille with the new Mahindra logo. Apart from them, we have dual barrel projector LED headlamps with an indicator strip at the bottom. The DRLs on the fog lamps are placed at the bottom. What about the side profile? The side profile has been kept clean with only a few curves on the wheel arch. At the rear we have the vertical tail lamps. Like the design of the Scorpio-N? Do let us know in the comments.

The interiors are a major upgrade in the Scorpio-N. Mahindra has gone for a premium fit and finish with the Scorpio-N. It now gets a black and gray dashboard with lots of soft-touch material. The new infotainment system adds a layer of modernity to the car. Other interior highlights include a three-spoke steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster, rectangle AC vents and leather upholstery.

The Scorpio-N is based on the third generation body-on-frame platform. The Scorpio will come with two familiar engine options; 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel. So is it the same as the XUV700? Yes and no. The petrol engine is the same that produces 197bhp and 370Nm (MT)/380Nm (AT) of torque, while the diesel engine comes in two tunes. The lower diesel variants (Z2 MT and Z4 MT) get 132bhp and 300Nm of torque with rear wheel drive. The higher diesel variant gets 172bhp and 400Nm of torque. Except for the lower tune of the diesel, all engines get automatic option. The diesel engine also gets a 4×4 setup for hardcore off-roaders (starting with Z4 for MT and Z8 for AT). Mahindra has given it Pentalink rear suspension and first-in-segment Watt’s link suspension. The Scorpio-N also comes with drive modes (Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert). Mahindra has gone a step further with 4XPLOR, an intelligent terrain-selector mode.

Mahindra set a benchmark in features with the launch of the XUV700. Scorpio is no different. It is not as feature-loaded as the XUV700, but it comes with a good number of features. So what are these features? 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AdrenoX, Sony sound system, wireless phone charging, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and AdrenoX with 70+ connected car features. The Scorpio-N also has Alexa-enabled What3words. What about security features? It gets 6 airbags, advanced ESC, driver dryness detection, advanced seat restraint system, electronic brake force distribution, vehicle dynamic control, roll over mitigation and collapsible steering system. The Scorpio-N also gets the widest sunroof in the segment along with anti-pinch feature.
