Malaga already has more than a thousand companies that regularly export

Province breaks a new overseas sales record with 2,641 million invoices by November 2022, 200 million more than all of 2021

Exports from Malaga reach 2,641 million euros in the first eleven months of 2022, a record figure for the period since comparable records exist (1995). Growth reaches 15.5% compared to the same period in 2021, which is now 201 million more than everything exported in 2021, which was a record sales year.

Imports also increased by 13.7%, reaching 2,878 million, so the trade balance in Málaga ended with a deficit of 237 million.

Malaga added 6,419 exporting companies in the first eleven months of 2022, of which 1,025 are regular exporters (i.e., they have been exporting for more than four consecutive years). The year-on-year growth has been 5.7% year-on-year and the province has already surpassed the figure with which it closed 2021 (979). These regular companies account for 88% of sales abroad in Málaga.

The first products exported by the province are agri-foods with 402 million, of which fruits predominate. The volume has barely changed compared to the previous year, in contrast to what happened with olive oil, in second place whose export value increased by 31% with 396 million. In third place is meat and food waste, with 209 million, representing a decrease of 11.6%. In fourth place is electrical machinery and materials, with a decline of 167 million and -5.3%; in fifth, knitwear, with 104 million; in sixth place, optical instruments and equipment, with 103 million; non-woven fabrics, with 82 million; motor vehicles and tractors, with 69 million; machines, with 65 million; and fuel, with 61 million.

The first destination for exports from Malaga is France with 440 million, 16.7%, which decreases by -7.3%; the second is Italy, with 314 million and an increase of 39%, the highest increase among the top ten markets; and the U.S., with 274 million and an increase of 31%. Portugal ranks fourth with 231 million (+28.5%); fifth in Germany, with 147 million (-25%); and then comes the Netherlands with 86 million (+15.2%) respectively; the United Kingdom, with 79 million (+27.6%); Morocco, with 57 million (+11.1%); China, with 47 million (-62%); and Japan, with 45 million (+33%).

Agri-food exports from Andalusia reached a new record, adding 12,882 million euros between January and November 2022, its best record for the first eleven months of a year in the historic series that began in 1995. This increase is 497 million Euros more than the previous year. All 2021, which was a record year (12,385 million). This is thanks to a year-on-year increase of 14.6%, which is the second largest increase of the four largest exporting communities and 1.6 points higher than the national average (13%).

A total of 516 companies from Málaga, a figure that equates to a third of regular exporters in the province, took part in 514 actions organized by Extenda in the first eleven months of 2022. One-third of these companies belong to the agri-food sector (127 companies), followed by services (90), industry (89) and consumer (84). 422 were also multisectoral.

The United States, United Kingdom, Poland, France, Germany, Mexico, Italy, Canada, Brazil and Japan were the markets generating the most interest from Málaga companies.
