March 25, 2020: When India imposed a nationwide lockdown to deal with the corona virus

New Delhi: Today, the lockdown in India has completed one year after the SARS-CoV-2 virus from Wuhan, China. However, within a year, the world’s largest democracy has started Corona vaccination and is doing its best to protect its citizens from the epidemic.

Currently India is struggling to meet the vaccination target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with 300 million citizens to be vaccinated by the end of July. With the new rule, all people over the age of 45 will start getting vaccinated from April 1.

(Under the vaccination campaign that began on January 16, more than 5.21 crore people have received the Corona Vaccine Vaccine since January, of which 13.54 lakh people were given the shots on Wednesday.)

When PM Modi announced stringent lockdown measures from 25 March 2020, millions of poor migrants were forced to leave employment overnight and migrate from cities to large-scale villages. Many people had left for their homes hundreds of kilometers on foot, which made the situation frightening.

India was not ready for this and has suffered a lot. A year later, strict sanctions were eased out of the recessionary economy, as a decline in active cases continued until February this year.

So far, India has recorded more than 11.7 million Covid-19 cases, which is the third most infected and one of the lowest mortality worldwide after the United States and Brazil. There have been more than 1.6 lakh deaths due to corona in the country so far.

(A day earlier in India, 47,262 new corona virus cases were reported, the most single-day cases in 2021.)

The central government believes that they saw the worst of the pandemic in September last year, indicating that we had been the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer.

India exported millions of vaccines worldwide in the last few months, but the sudden increase in infection – from 9,000 in early February to now 50,000 a day – has sounded the alarm bells in the case.

Mumbai, the financial capital of Maharashtra, has once again become a major attraction, with 31,855 new cases seen in the last 24 hours (the state’s highest one-day rally since the epidemic began) and authorities again lockdown at the district level. Was forced to apply.

The worrying fact is that the Center on Wednesday publicly acknowledged for the first time the presence of double mutant virus in Mumbai alone in India, in addition to the existing foreign variants of the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil.
