Marco Rubio rejects US intelligence report on “Havana syndrome”.

Cuban-American senator Marco Rubio rejected the comments of the intelligence of the United States of America, which backs that the “Havana Syndrome” is caused by a foreign agent or the use of weapons emitting energy waves.

“I am concerned that the Intelligence Community effectively concluded that US personnel who reported AHI symptoms were simply experiencing symptoms due to environmental factors, diseases or pre-existing conditions,” the politician said in a statement.

For Rubio, the situation still leaves many unknowns and the researchers “rushed” to a conclusion about the Anomalous Health Incidents (AHIs) that affected more than a thousand US officials per year around the world.

“As I said before, something happened here and just because we don’t have all the answers doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. I don’t accept that all of these incidents are just related. I will work on this until we get real explanations,” said the Chairman of the Select Committee of the US Senate on Intelligence.

Although the new assessment does not deny the so-called Havana syndrome, it states that after several years of research by experts it is “probable” that a foreign adversary, such as Russia, was responsible for the symptoms described.

The latest intelligence services reporting to medical experts could not attribute external symptoms other than a pre-existing condition or environmental factors, including conditions such as clogged air ducts in office buildings that could cause headaches.

In addition, the expert panel also questioned the psychological cause, arguing that “psychosocial factors alone cannot explain the main symptoms, although they may cause other incidents or contribute to long-term symptoms.”

Analysts, scanning the grapevine of reported cases, found no common pattern or conditions that could link each case; They also found no evidence or geolocation evidence to indicate that the adversary was using a direct form of energy, such as ultrasonic radio waves.

In a statement, CIA Director William J. Burns said he fully approved the conclusions of the report, which analysts said was “one of the largest and most intensive investigations in the Agency’s history.”

However, he stated that “these findings do not call into question the experiences and real issues” of health that US government personnel and their families have reported while serving their country.

“The Intelligence Committee will continue its ongoing independent review of Anomalous Health Incidents and will ensure that officers affected by these incidents receive prompt and comprehensive care in accordance with the law,” Senator Rubio said.

For his part, the Cuban-American congressman Mario Díaz-Balart went further and considered that the report from the US Intelligence Community was part of the Biden administration’s administration to start a new change in relations with Cuba.

“For the last two years, the Biden administration has been looking for ways to appease and grant concessions to the Cuban government. This report is a mockery of the removal of Cuba’s budget from the country’s list of sponsors of terrorism, a measure of this administration since it took office,” said Díaz-Balart.
