The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is set to expand its car portfolio in the domestic market soon. The company is preparing to bring SUVs in view of the growing demand for sport utility vehicles in the country. Updated models of some new cars and some existing cars will be brought to the market.
1) – Maruti Suzuki Gymnasium:
This upcoming SUV of Maruti Suzuki has been waiting for a long time. Although it cannot be called a facelift model, it is the same SUV that Suzuki sells under different names in different countries. Until now, this SUV was sold in the Indian market under the name Gypsy, which has now stopped selling. But the company launched Jimny’s Sierra model at the last Auto Expo. Maruti has also started production of this SUV in India, but it is currently being exported to other countries. It is expected to launch in the Indian market soon. Here on the market, the company will present its 5 door version and it will be the most affordable offroading SUV.
2) – Maruti Vitara Breza:
Segment leader Vitara Breza was first launched by the company in 2016. The company launched their new facelift model during the Auto Expo last year. At this time its diesel variant was discontinued and it was only launched in the market with a petrol engine. Although no information has yet been shared about its next-gen model, it is believed that the company could offer it with an existing engine and a new chassis frame. It can also be given a light hybrid system, due to which its mileage will be better.
3) – Maruti S-Cross:
The company sells Maruti S-Cross through its Nexa dealership. However, this is the lowest selling SUV model included in the company’s car portfolio. The company is expected to bring it to market by next year. According to media reports, the company may change some of its shape. There are also rumors that Maruti Suzuki and Toyota may work together on the next generation model. So far there is no official confirmation about it. In the current model, the company has used a 1.5 liter K-series petrol engine. Although the diesel variant is not expected, the company may use a lighter hybrid system.
4) – Sub-compact SUV:
The sub-compact SUV segment is rapidly gaining popularity in the country. Recently Tata Motors has launched its Tata Punch. Now news is coming that Maruti is also preparing a sub-compact SUV based on Suzuki Baleno. This SUV has been given the codename (YTB), which could be launched in the market within the next year. The company is expected to use a 1.2-liter petrol engine in it, which will be tuned in such a way that it will be more powerful than the Baleno.
