Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker, has always dominated the passenger car segment. But for the first time, Maruti Suzuki has faced stiff competition from South Korean companies Hyundai and Kia. Although the corona epidemic has badly affected business, some companies have nonetheless maintained articles on sales growth. In May, Hyundai and Kia surpassed Maruti Suzuki in terms of sales.
Hyundai and Kia India combined sold a total of 36,051 units in May. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, was able to sell only 32,903 units of vehicles during the period. Speaking of May of the following year, when a nationwide lockdown was imposed due to the Corona epidemic, the two Korean companies sold 8,544 units and Maruti Suzuki 13,702 units.
In this context, the sales of these companies have increased by 322% and 140% respectively as compared to May last year. However, last April, Maruti Suzuki performed as well as ever. During this period, Hyundai and Kia together sold only 65,113 units, while Maruti Suzuki sold 1,35,879 units.
These cars were hot in May:
In May, the Hyundai Creta became the best-selling car in the country. This month, the company sold a total of 7,527 units. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki’s Swift is in second place with a total of 7,005 units. Hyundai’s sister concern company, which recently entered the Indian market, has become the third highest-selling carrier of India’s compact SUV Sonnet with a total of 6,6227 units. In addition to this, the fifth highest selling car in the fourth position was Tata Nexon and Maruti Dzire.
