Thunder and lightning can be exciting to watch, but it can sometimes take a dangerous turn.
Recently, a video of lightning striking a pickup truck on a Florida highway went viral on social media for its terrifying content.
The shocking incident was captured on camera by a woman who was driving right behind the vehicle.
The lady in the car is identified as Michaelle May Whalen, and the person driving the truck was her husband. Allegedly, her husband and three children were in the truck. The family was returning home after a vacation.
Michaelle told Fox13 News: “The storm started and I thought the lightning was clear so I was trying to get a picture of the lightning and I missed every time. So my son-in-law suggested I record it in slow motion, and that’s when I captured the event on camera.”
“Lightning struck my husband’s truck. While everyone was unharmed, the vehicle was “completely fried”. The incident took place near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on July 1.” she added further.
Hillsborough County Representative Kristen Miceli was driving alongside Whalen’s truck when lightning struck. Miceli’s car was also damaged. The video was originally shared on Facebook by the county sheriff’s deputy. As soon as the video appeared online, it went viral in a very short time. The clip was then shared by several netizens on different social media platforms.
