Know Your Foe
Robert Morris finished the regular season 13-14, 11-11 Horizon League. The Colonials clinched the No. 8 seed in the Horizon League Championship behind the efforts of All-League player Esther Castedo. Castedo averages 10.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Sol Castro and Ashya Klopfenstein are second and third options, both scoring about 8.0 points and grabbing 5.0 boards per game.

The Series
Robert Morris has a 3-1 edge over the Mastodons in the series history, with the last three games going to RMU. The Mastodons won the first game in the series which came last season. The ‘Dons got 21 points from Shayla Sellers to lead Purdue Fort Wayne to the win.

Sellers the All-League Player

Shayla Sellers is the first Mastodon to be named to an All-League team since 2014-15. This regular season, Sellers averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 40.2 percent from the floor, 36.7 percent from 3-point range and 88.6 percent from the charity stripe. She scored in double-figures in nine Horizon League games, which included a career-high 25 points at UIC.

All-Freshman Ott

Ryin Ott was one of just three freshmen in the Horizon League to be named Freshman of the Week more than once. She opened her career with back-to-back honors, which came on the heels of a double-double effort against UIC. On the year, Ott averaged 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 39.8 percent from the floor, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc and 80.0 percent from the free throw line. Ott is the first Mastodon to be named to an All-Freshman/Newcomer team since her sister Riley was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team in 2019-20.

Maria MARCH-esano
Purdue Fort Wayne head coach Maria Marchesano has a career head coaching record of 13-12 in the month of March, which includes a berth to the NCAA Division I Tournament with Mount St. Mary’s in 2021.

The Mastodons are on pace to put their 3-point shooting statistics into the record books at Purdue Fort Wayne. If their averages hold, the Mastodons will make the fifth-most and take the second-most 3-pointers in a season in program history. Riley Ott was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team on Thursday (Feb. 24) as one of the five-member team. She owns a 3.98 GPA, majoring in Actuarial Science.

Peaking at the Right Time

Abbigail Stephens had a career-high 13 points in the Mastodons last game of the regular season: at 53-51 loss to Milwaukee. Stephens had never scored more than eight points in a game before that.

Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne fell to Milwaukee 53-51 after erasing a 17-point deficit. Abbigail Stephens had a shot at the buzzer to send it to overtime but MKE came away with a win.

With a win, Purdue Fort Wayne would move on to the quarterfinal of the Keeps Horizon League Championship, and could face IUPUI, Youngstown State, Green Bay or Cleveland State on March 3.
