Mayor Adams’ tour of the American southern border comes to an end.

Where did New York Mayor Eric Adams spend the weekend

El Paso, Texas, where he said he wants to take a closer look at how the continued influx of immigrants affects that border city.

On his Twitter account, he posted a video with El Paso Mayor Oscar Lesser.

Adams assured that he went to learn “how to better manage” the crisis that he himself is in the big apple.

New York workers have some advice for you:

“It is very important that she sues the federal government, that migrants return any identification documents that are being taken at the immigrant border,” said Arianna Phillips from the South Bronx Mutual Aid organization.

Phillips assures them that he has received and helped them since the city was flooded in the spring, saying they carry documents such as passports that they need to start a new life. as well…

“They need to demand that the requirements of the court’s ruling to repeal Title 42 be met.”

Adams on Sunday visited a center where immigrants attend and receive documents. He went to a local shelter and talked to local leaders.

Before leaving, his administration announced a deal with the New York Hotel Association that would house 5,000 refugees at a cost of $275 million. In addition, it included more than one billion in its annual budget to be able to provide assistance to those coming and those who are already here.

Paul Molina, a Venezuelan immigrant, appreciates the efforts, but what he really wants, he says, is to work.

“We need to act like all people, all adults. But by not giving us the ability to do it in a legal way, we are desperately looking for alternatives that are sometimes precarious.

Paul arrived in New York six months ago.

She abandoned her three-year-old daughter in Venezuela and it pains her to feel like a social burden.

“We, the communities that live in this situation, sometimes allow ourselves to be mistreated because of ignorance of whether or not they have rights,” says Molina.

“A very basic solution that can be done now is to speed up the process, to access work permits, for migrants who come here seeking asylum,” Phillips continues.

Adams promised them “open arms”. Governor Cathy Hochul has promised aid.

But it was the administration of current President Joe Biden that opened the door and federal aid is not coming despite pleas and complaints from the mayor.

According to the city, there are already about 32,000 new immigrants who have arrived in New York from the southern border. The cost, they say, amounted to two billion dollars. More are on the way.
