Maytenus senegalensis conservation solutions

Maytenus senegalensis conservation solutions

“Today, the 30th of March, for the first time in the laboratory of the conservation solution of Maytenus senegalensis subsp. Europe and its place: Implications for economic development.

The “arto” (Maytenus senegalensis subsp. europaea) has an important biological significance, since it is left over from other climatic epochs (it is paleoendemism). It appears in a wide area and environment, from Malaga to Cabo Nao in Alicante, passing through the coastal regions of Granada, Almería and Murcia. Both species and their place in all autonomous communities are protected by national and European law. With this particular protection regime, conflicts often arise with the initiation of socio-economic activities, especially in areas with high human pressure.

This meeting was held with the objective of reviewing the scientific foundations that exist in species, habitats and current knowledge in the state of conservation, in order to arrive at holistic conservation solutions for the resilience of ecosystem goods and services. Mayten formations, compatible with economic development with initiatives and in the presence of scenarios of global change.

So one of the questions that followed the workshop was: Why should we preserve “art” and its habitat? It is seen that preserving the Mayten habitat can be a social contributor, where social and economic development is compatible with the conservation of biodiversity.

Because of this, different profiles participated in the workshop such as management of environmental technicians, workshop technicians, managers of different village courts, scientists, companies in the environment and representatives of NGOs, among others. Both listeners and speakers came from different places in Baetica, in the region of Murcia, in the community of Valencia to attend the first workshop on the species.
