Las complications or adverse pregnancy outcomes (APO, for its abbreviation in English), there are a range of problems that are considered risk factors for women’s health during and after this stage:
“With evidence of a dose-response association, greater adherence to the Mediterranean dietary pattern is associated with a lower risk of APO. Intervention studies are needed to assess whether dietary modification around the time of pregnancy can reduce APO,” the research states. and that subsequent associations may reduce the risk of future development of cardiovascular disease risk factors (…).
Findings show a greater than 20% reduction for any pregnancy complication. While the risk reduction for preeclampsia, eclampsia, as well as gestational diabetes was 28% and 37%, respectively. The benefits were greatest among pregnant people age 35 and older.
