Melbourne principal ‘strongly denies’ alleged sex offences

An attorney for Loyola College principal Joseph Favrin says his client strongly denied allegations of sexual offenses involving an adult, leading to his step down.

A Victoria Police spokesman said Saturday that detectives from the Meranda Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Team charged a 67-year-old Mill Park man with two counts of sexual activity and one count of sexual exposure.

In a letter to the families, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic School Eastern Region general manager Marvin Austerberry said Favrin had been suspended by the Victorian Institute of Teaching over a “personal matter”.
