Mexico registers a rebound in cases of covid-19 in nine states of the country, but that has not had an impact on hospitalizations or deaths, the Ministry of Health (SSa) of the Government of Mexico reported this Monday.
The states in which growth is observed are Aguascalientes, Baja California, Campeche, Mexico City, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Sinaloa and Yucatán.
In the most recent Weekly Technical Report, published this Monday, the agency reported that in the last week Mexico accumulated 18,539 new cases of covid-19, as well as 146 new deaths, while last week it had registered 12,265 new cases and 89 deaths. .
Mexico reached a total of 5,789,401 cases and a total of 325,000 deaths. He also specified that there are currently 23,891 active cases.
With these figures, Mexico is the twenty-first country in the world in number of confirmed infections and is the fifth with the most deaths from this cause, behind the United States, Brazil, India and Russia, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.
Regarding the current situation, Salud de México said in the report that “a growth trend in estimated cases at the national level is observed,” but that “it has not had an impact on hospitalizations or deaths.”
In addition to the growth in the nine states, he indicated that there is “a slight upward trend” in Baja California Sur, Colima, Durango, the State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo and Veracruz.
He also said that he will continue “monitoring the behavior of the epidemic” and added that, given the observed trend, he has chosen to modify the communication strategy towards the population and, therefore, will return to offering daily reports on the epidemic.
The authorities also indicated that within the national vaccination program 208.7 million doses have been administered and, of the 126 million inhabitants, 88.2 million are vaccinated with at least one dose.
