This company, which entered the Indian market with MG Hector, is now preparing to introduce its new model MG Astor in the mid-size SUV segment. According to the information, MG Astor will be introduced in the Indian market tomorrow i.e. on August 18. This will be the fourth model in the Indian market from the British automaker, before that the company has introduced models like MG Hector, Hector Plus and MG Z electric SUV. A special feature of this new SUV will also be that for this a contract has been signed with the country’s leading telecom company Jio. That is, Reliance Jio will provide the IT system for artificial intelligence in this.
MG Motor India also introduced its first model as the internet car of the country. Now once again the company is engaged in attracting customers with modern internet technology. Reliance Jio will provide e-SIM and LOT technology for real-time infotainment and telematics. The automaker has already confirmed that the new SUV will be based on CAAP (Concept of Car as a Platform).
Most interestingly, the Astor SUV will be the cheapest MG car to offer Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. MG Motors is working globally on many advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain and many more. All these technologies will support the company’s new CAAP platform and help in meeting on-demand in-car requirements. There is no doubt that tomorrow MG will see some special and advanced features in this car.
Actually, MG Astor is the petrol internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the company’s current electric SUV model ZS EV. It is being told that in this, the company is using a 1.5-liter capacity 4-cylinder petrol engine equipped with mild hybrid technology, which generates 141bhp power and 240Nm torque. The same engine has also been used in the MG Hector, and now the company is preparing to compete with the segment leader Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos with this SUV.
As far as the design is concerned, it looks similar to the current electric SUV ZS. Although the company will definitely make some changes in it and some other features will be included in it. It can get MG One-inspired front grille, redesigned headlamps, LED daytime running lights, roof mounted spoiler, LED tail lamps and dual tone alloy wheels. Its interior is expected to be similar to that of an electric SUV.
Apart from this, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system can be given in it, which can be connected to Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Other features on the car include a fully digital instrument cluster with a large MID unit, i-Smart connected technology, flat-bottom steering wheel, advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with tire pressure monitoring system, sunroof and automatic AC. unit will also be included.
