MILAN ( Associated Press) — Milan’s disastrous start deepened on Sunday, and the continuity of manager Stefano Pioli is coming into question.
The Rossoneri were humiliated after losing 5–2 at home to the San Siro, leaving the defending Serie A champions without a win in their last six matches. The next commitment will be the classic against its eternal rival of the Inter patio next Sunday.
It is the first time in history that Milan have conceded four goals in a row in Serie A matches since their 4–0 defeat at home to Lazio in midweek. It was the first time since 1997 that Milan had conceded five goals in a home league game.
Milan also lost against a 10-man Torino squad in the Italian Cup and lost 3–0 to Inter in the Italian Super Cup.
The Rossoneri moved back to fourth in the table and could be as high as sixth after Roma and Lazio face leaders Napoli and Fiorentina at the end of the day.
Milan sporting director Paolo Maldini laughed mid-week over whether Pioli was at risk of losing his job, eight months after leading the club to their first title in 11 years.
Sassuolo climbed eight points above the relegation zone to 16th after their first win since mid-October.
Domenico Berardi was again Milan’s tormentor, contributing three assists and a goal. The Sassuolo forward has 11 goals and seven assists against Milan.
Grégoire Defrel, Davide Fratesi and Berardi scored for the visitors in the first half, while Armand Loriente added from the penalty spot and Brazilian midfielder Mathias Heinrich in the second half. Olivier Giroud and Divock Origi scored for Milan.

Juventus brought back Dušan Vlahović after a three-month absence and had Paul Pogba on the substitute bench, but it was the only upside for the Bianconeri as they lost 2–0 at home to Monza.
Patrik Sciuria and Danny Mota scored for Monza in the first half.
Monza displaced Juventus to take 11th place. It was the third consecutive game without a win in Serie A, who have just been punished with a 15-point penalty for discrepancies in their accounts.
