Minnie Driver talks about the “devastating” experience of hearing a producer on “Good Will Hunting” say she was “not sexy” enough for the role she played in the film — you know, which earned her an Oscar nomination. did.

“I definitely had growing insecurities,” she explained. “That I wasn’t gorgeous. I wasn’t super pretty. The idea that this was the posture I had to pursue, and that I had to try to find ways to make myself beautiful. While Hollywood may be in a slightly different place than when the beloved 1997 film hit theaters, Driver said some things haven’t changed.
