MinTrabajo will inspect the offices of Rappi and Rappitenderos

The ministry will inspect the condition of the houses in the Rappi offices and the concentration points of the Rappitenderos on September 19, 20 and 21.

According to Order 0022 of the Special Investigation Unit, “administrative work procedures will be ordered on the twentieth (20th) and twenty-first (21st) of September 2023 from 08:00 a.m. at the company RAPPI SAS” agencies, branches or collection or dispatch centers or in places at in which the personnel involved in the activity carry out their work,” the official notes.

“Many of these workers suffer accidents without any protection. We have seen many stories on social networks about these workers who have an accident at work, an accident with their motorcycle or their bicycle and have to be out of work for two or three months at home without any income, that cannot happen. That is why, at this table of social dialogue, we want to agree on working conditions for them that respect their work,” explained Edwin Palma, Deputy Minister of Labor and who was present at the first inspection today and listened to the rappitenderos.

The Rappitenderos also assert that the treatment by the restaurants is degrading. In addition, one of the points that still needs to be discussed at the negotiating table between the Rappi union and the company is the minimum rate.

“I have been working with the application for seven years. At that time, the minimum order value in restaurants was 3,500 pesos and the minimum order value in supermarkets was about 5,000 US dollars. At the moment they are already sending me two orders for $ 5,000, they pay orders for $ 2,500 in the best case, but it turns out that I was in a bad mood and I arrive at one of these restaurants and the product is not right there or the restaurant is closed so they cancel my order. I do the other thing and when I finish with the addresses it turns out they paid me $1,200,” explained one of the domicile owners.

Workers are also against a new modality of the platform called “self-acceptance,” which requires them to accept orders from any location, regardless of the distance of the routes. You represent that if you do not register with “Autoacceptance” you will not be able to receive any further orders.

On September 13, the Unidapp union and the platform reached an agreement that provides for Rappi to contribute to the payment of 60% of health and pension contributions, compared to 40% borne by the employee and that he must also be responsible for 100% of contributions to employees’ occupational risk system.
