Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves announced Wednesday that he has ordered the deployment of a unit of his state’s National Guard to help protect the U.S.-Mexico border and Mexico.
“What happens at the border does not stay there. Republican Reeves said on Twitter, drugs and people are trafficked in every state in the country, including Mississippi. “To keep Mississippi residents safe and limit the impact of our nation’s open borders, the 112th Military Police Battalion of the Mississippi National Guard is mobilized and provides assistance to Bureau of Customs agents and agents at US Border Security and the Southwest Border.” Still working.”
A day earlier, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he planned to send more than 1,100 National Guard and security agents to Texas to help strengthen US-Mexico border security. DeSantis is expected to announce his presidential campaign soon.
Mississippi does not share a border with Mexico, but Reeves blamed the Joe Biden administration for people and drugs entering the country without authorization.
“All states have become border states,” wrote Reeves, who is running for re-election this year.
