Monterrey returns to beat Pachuca 2-1 and continues to lead

MEXICO CITY ( Associated Press) — With goals from Jesús Gallardo and Jordi Cortizo, Monterrey rallied to beat Pachuca 2-1 on Sunday night and extend its lead in the Clausura tournament in Mexico.

Colombian Marino Hinestroza put Tuzos in front after three minutes, but Gallardo tied the game in the 17th minute and Cortizo scored the game winner in the 53rd minute.

Rayados won its ninth game of the championship and twenty-seven points to seven teams separated from the next pursuer with five times left in the local tournament.

The Tuzos, the reigning champions, lost their third game in four years and fell to sixth place.
