At the start of the second half, the Climbers narrowed the gap to five points, but Duke then connected three straight three-point attempts to bring the lead back to double digits.

BIG PICTURE

Appalachian State: The Climbers regain 92% of their points from a team that competed in the NCAA a year ago, becoming the third team in the state to do so. The Alpinists played with Duke for some time, but in the second half they could not keep up with the Blue Devils. However, the App State should have enough firepower to compete for the Sun Belt championship again.

Duke: The Blue Devils played well enough to win by a comfortable margin. Duke took care of the ball, making 21 assists with nine assists. Duke entered the game with the third-best gear-to-turnover ratio in the country – plus -1.95.

NEXT

Appalachian State: Climbers return to Triangle on Tuesday to play in North Carolina.

Duke: After his game against Cleveland State was canceled, Duke will now be hosting Loyola (Maryland) on Saturday.
