García Ram is an SME from Gijón in the reform sector. Today it has 30 employees. They decided to request the help of the Digital Kit program because, among other needs, they wanted to strengthen the customer relationship management system while digitizing those processes. “We are very satisfied, and we are starting to see the changes,” says Susana Garcia, the company’s manager. “The digital kit is going to make our daily lives much easier: it will help us to control processes and data, for example, but above all to ensure that there is no loss of information.”
Digital transformation within reach of all
But, what is a digital kit? It is an initiative of the Government of Spain and is managed by Red.es, an entity linked to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation through the Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence. It aims to fuel the digital transformation of small companies with less than 50 employees, micro-companies and freelancers. It is funded with a budget of 3,067 million euros. Next Generation EU, Funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and has the Spanish Chamber of Commerce as a partner body.
Red.es has launched three calls in just eight months, which currently co-exist in parallel so that all companies with less than 50 employees that meet the requirements can apply for assistance. In these months, more than 670 million euros have already reached small Spanish companies and freelancers.
A fast, simple and tailor-made process
“Everything was very simple,” recalls Susana García. “He guides you through the stage. There is no difficulty.” The first thing, he says, is to find out the shortcomings of the company, so that its managers and employees look to other advanced systems and organizations in this aspect. Then, it was necessary to look for a digitization agent – a professional associated with the program, who hires their services to accompany companies in their digitization process – and to implement the necessary technical reinforcement.
Beneficiary companies will be able to access assistance from a list made up of 12 solutions: website and internet presence, management of social networks, electronic commerce, customer management, virtual office services and equipment, business intelligence and analytics, management processes, electronic billing, secure communications, cyber security, enhanced internet presence and Market (These last two only apply from the second call).

Susana Garcia, manager of Garcia Rama
In the case of García Rama, the digital solution he preferred was the establishment of a system that centralizes information from different areas of the company. “For example, inventory control, customer relations or accounting. We also wanted everything to be connected, rather than having separate programs that aren’t connected to each other,” says Garcia.
in three minutes, and without papers
From Red.es, the public body that manages the aid program for SMEs, and under the motto ‘zero papers’, the process of processing a file has been achieved on average from three hours to three minutes, thanks to the robotization equipment. Thanks to the implementation and automatic artificial intelligence. It is possible to access informational talks through various chambers of commerce, initiate the process and contact one of the over 9,800 digitizing agents associated with the program. All this can also be found on the website www.acelerapyme.es and on the electronic headquarters of Red.es (https://sede.red.gob.es). Once compliance with requirements is confirmed, assistance is provided directly and in order of arrival.
