A possible departure from Morena The withdrawal of Marcelo Ebrard – after the former chancellor withdrew from the internal process – would lead to the flight of the “Ebrardista movement”, made up of more than half a million people from the party founded by Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Ebrard’s national structure includes nearly 500,000 volunteers or sponsors divided into 38 groups and expressions, more than 200 federal and local legislators, and former State Department officials.
“We rely primarily on volunteers. “We have around half a million volunteers registered through various media, including WhatsApp, social networks, the various groups that accompany us, of course deputies, senators and representatives who have taken this decision,” Ebrard explained on June 14 at the registration. as a candidate for Morena’s presidential candidacy.
Each group associated with the former chancellor has district, state and local committees. These include, among others, the Progressive Movement, National Advance, Progressive Dialogues, Morena Progresista, Fuerza Marcelo and Mujeres con Marcelo. Their ranks include mainly Morenist militants, but also members of other forces.
According to sources consulted, more than 90 federal deputies, at least a dozen republican senators and almost 120 local deputies support the former secretary.
Among the “Marcelista” lawmakers, the following stand out: Malú Micher – who was the former chancellor’s representative before Morena in the internal process – Emmanuel Reyes, Daniel Sibaja, Selene Ávila, Ángel Domínguez, Inés Parra, Maité Vargas and Carmen Bautista.
In addition, Manuel Baldenebro, Salma Luévano, Julieta Vences, Javier López Casarín, María José Alcalá, Favio Castellanos, Carol Altamirano, Bertha Caraveo, Daniel Gutiérrez and Ángel Domínguez, among others.
At the top of the structure are, among others, Martha Delgado, Pío López Obrador – brother of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador -, Alberto Esteva, Carlos Candelaria, Vidal Llerenas, Jesús Valdés and Ximena Escobedo.
When Morena appointed Claudia Sheinbaum as coordinator on Wednesday, two of Ebrard’s associates, Malú Micher and Emmanuel Reyes, assured that the movement would not come from Morena for the time being.
According to the party membership directory National Electoral Institute (INE) Morena currently has two million 322 thousand 136 militants, making it the political force with the most members in the country.
