A look at what’s happening around the Major on Monday:
Judge VS. Neelkanth
Yankees slugger Aaron Judge has scored five home runs in his last five games, part of a boom that helped New York win nine in a row.
The judges are connected in three straight games. The Yankees led the majors with a 16–6 record in the three-match series in Toronto.
George Springer, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays played four matches at Yankee Stadium during April 11–14 divided into a series that included three shutouts – two by New York pitching. Surprisingly, considering all the power these lineups pack.
The series marks the final phase of a preliminary test for Toronto – 16 consecutive games (the last 10 at home) against three 2021 AL playoff teams: Boston, Houston and New York.
Angels star Shohei Ohtani said he hopes to return to the lineup a day after his early exit due to a tightness in his right groin.
The two-way AL MVP was the Angels’ designated hitter when he pulled for a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning of Sunday’s 6–5 win over the Chicago White Sox.
“I was kicked out for security reasons. I was absolutely fine with it,” Ohtani said through a translator.
Angels manager Joe Maddon said that Ohtani must have twisted his groin to pitch Jose Ruiz for the first time in the seventh inning that the White Sox turned into a double play.
Ohtani is batting. .228 with four home runs, 12 RBIs and four stolen bases this season. As a pitcher, he is 2-2 with 4.19 ERA, scoring 30 runs in 19 1/3 innings.

After a slow start since signing with the Twins, star shortstop Carlos Correa is finding his stroke.
Korea posted its fourth straight multi-hit game on Sunday as Minnesota beat the Rays 9-3. This streak has increased his batting average from .167 to .256.
Correa, who received a $105.3 million, three-year contract from the Twins, tries to continue the string when Minnesota starts a series in Baltimore.
Starting this week the roster for big league teams will be reduced from 28 players to 26, leaving teams with some tough choices to make.
Expanded rosters helped clubs deal with a brief spring training following the MLB lockout. Teams can continue to carry 14 pitchers until May 30.
Yankees pitcher Clark Schmidt was selected back to Triple-A after winning Sunday in Kansas City. Wright, 26, has a 1.08 ERA in four games.
“It’s a real hard pill to swallow,” Schmidt said. “It’s a tough part of the game but it’s also a business.”
NL East Watch
In their opening matchup of the season, the first-place New York Mets hosted Ronald Acuna Jr. and the World Series champion Atlanta Braves at Citi Field.
Chris Bassett (3-1, 2.25 ERA) pitches for the Mets against Max Fried (2-2, 3.00) in the four-match series opener, which includes a single-admission doubleheader on Tuesday. Fried has won his last two starts, allowing one run and six hits with 12 strikes in 13 innings.
