Najee will remain in custody till 9 April in the Antilia and Mansukh Hiren case, CBI will also interrogate

Mumbai Police’s suspended officer Sachin Waje was produced before a special NIA court on Wednesday (April 7, 2021). Here, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) asked the court to extend the custody of Sachin Waje for four more days. Currently, the court extended Waje’s custody to 9 April.

Along with this, the special court also allowed the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) to interrogate Sachin Waje who was in the custody of the NIA. The court directed the CBI to cooperate with the NIA to determine the timing of interrogating Waje.

The agency also sought judicial custody of suspended Mumbai Police constables Vinayak Shinde and Naresh Dhare. These people were arrested in the Mansukh Hiren death case. On the demand for extension of custody, Waje’s lawyer said that he was not opposing the NIA’s demand for custody. He is ready to cooperate with the CBI in the investigation. He said that he wanted to register an objection that Vaje was taken in handcuffs at Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

Manjukh Hiren is accused in death case

On 25 February, explosive material was found in a car outside the Antilia, Mumbai residence of the country’s biggest industrialist Mukesh Ambani, besides a threatening letter was also found in the car. An investigation of CCTV footage in this case revealed that the vehicle was in the name of a man named Mansukh Hiren. On March 5, the body of the vehicle owner Mansukh Hiren was recovered from the Gulf of Kalwa. Maharashtra ATS has arrested many people in this case. When the case caught fire, the investigation was handed over to the NIA. The matter is currently with the NIA. Waje was arrested in the case on 13 March.
