When will the new regulations for motorcycles come into force?
It has been stipulated that the regulation will come into force 45 days after its publication in the Official Gazette of Mexico City, on September 24, so that motorcyclists are aware of the new regulations and can make appropriate adjustments.
What do the regulations say for motorcyclists?
The regulation expressly states that all passengers must wear a protective helmet intended exclusively for motorcycling and with safety regulations, and that the accompanying person must also wear it.
“The helmet must fit and fasten properly on the head, with no signs of wear or visible breakage; it must also have the appropriate certification and/or the following safety elements,” the regulations state.
What is the approved motorcycle helmet?
Helmets must now meet the specifications established by the regulations for travel in CDMX and the State of Mexico, such as: B. a frame with a rigid barrier, shock-absorbing and comfortable padding, a retention system, a visor and/or appropriate certification.
These are the specifications:
1. Frame: rigid barrier that gives shape to the structure and provides protection.
2. Shock-absorbing padding: 3 to 4 centimeters thick padding for shock absorption. 3. Comfort padding: Part of the helmet that is in contact with the user’s head and ensures that the helmet sits properly on the head.
4. Retention system: Mechanism that holds the helmet on the head in the event of an impact, where it tends to shift due to inertia. It consists of straps, anchors and a locking or fastening mechanism.
5. Visor: It must ensure good visibility and be resistant to the impact of objects.
