In this season, the craze of Fidget Toys among children is everywhere. Miner’s employees keep up with that trend by filling their shoppers’ bags with these plastic distractions.
Store clerk Olivia Owens showed us a magnetic puzzle called the Shashibo Cube. “We sell a lot of them. Lots of people come to ask about fidget toys. But it’s just a playful toy — you can make all kinds of different shapes. Lots of fidget toys that are really popular , they are Pop It.”

While trendy new toys like this appear every year, owner Merille Furr says classic gifts are also among the shop’s best-sellers. “I think the biggest trend is traditional things like trucks and dolls, and we have a lot of outdoor toys, games, puzzles, little electronic kits. It’s an amazing spectrum of things that never go out of style. .
Businesses on the coast have seen an increase in foot traffic as COVID restrictions are not what they were. “We have a lot of shoppers coming into the store this year. Last year everyone was very cautious, even if they were kind of freaking out. This year people are feeling confident, they’ve got the vaccines.”
For Christmas Eve, Miners will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for your last-minute fidget toy needs.
