The police are investigating the cause of death of a 12-year-old boy in New York City. His family said his classmates assaulted him.
Officials told local media that the boy, Romy Vilsaint, complained of head pain after reports that he was beaten at school. According to the New York Daily News, citing officials, he died last week at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn after being taken away by EMS.
Romy’s father Romain Vilsaint said that his son was very ill in the hours before his death.
“He is a great kid and very smart. He has never had any problems with anyone. We love him very much. I don’t know what to say,” the 59-year-old Wilson told the Daily News.
“They beat my son at school. They killed[ed] He,” according to the New York Post, he also said. “Oh my God, I lost my son, I lost my son. “
The forensic doctor told the New York Post on Saturday that the cause and manner of the boy’s death “await further study, but there is no trauma.”
His cousin Roodwiny Exantus elaborated on this matter.
“He said he was skipped by two children on Wednesday, and on Thursday, his head was hit hard,” Exantus told New York CBS. “The principal asked the children why they did this. The children were like, he got paid for a dollar… He had a terrible headache and he had to spend the rest of the day in the school’s nurse’s office.”
Exantus believes that the school has not acted in an appropriate manner.
“The school called my father, but he was at work, so he didn’t answer the phone,” Exantus said. “For me, they did something wrong. For example, if a child is hit in the head and cannot return to class, and you are told that the situation is serious… you don’t need to wait for his father’s permission to take him to the hospital. “
