ALLIANCE – The Historic Main Street Art Festival will be held on Saturday. The arts and music festival will celebrate and encourage the growth and interest in the revival of the Historic Downtown Alliance. The event will feature three stages of entertainment, live artist demonstrations, art competition, kids crafts, food trucks and more than 25 vendors and artists, live music, vintage car show and tours of the Alliance center. The festival includes attractions at every downtown business. Water Obstacle Course at the Library
ALLIANCE – The Rodman Public Library will host an outdoor water obstacle course for teens from 3-5 pm on Thursday. Participants ages 12 to 18 can test their skills and compare their times with their friends. Water balloon games will also be offered. Teens are encouraged to bring a towel. No registration required. BOLÍVAR – The Erie Valley Fire Department will host the Amy Cupples Memorial Golf Outing on August 14 at the Wilkshire Golf Course, 10566 Wilkshire Blvd. NE, according to a press release. A shot start is scheduled for 9 a.m. All golfers must check in by 8:30 a.m.
Cost is $75 per person, or $300 per team, which includes 18 holes of cart golf, two drink tickets and a Mission BBQ buffet dinner. The skin set is optional.

CANTON – Mosquito spraying will take place this week in the following areas, according to the City of Canton Department of Public Health:
Monday through Wednesday in Northwest Canton, with the northern boundary of the city limits, the southern boundary of Tuscarawas Street, the eastern boundary of Market Avenue, the western boundary of the city limits.

The spraying schedule will be from 9 pm to 12 am In the event of rain, windy conditions or low temperatures during the dates scheduled above, the spraying will be rescheduled for July 28 and 29. JACKSON TWP. – Yankee Bravo will perform a free concert at the Jackson Amphitheatre, 7454 Community Parkway, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday. The New Delhi Monkeymen will hold a free concert from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on July 27. The Jackson Township Farmers Market is located at the north end of the amphitheater parking lot from 3-7 p.m.

Various children’s programs will also be offered in the amphitheater. Outback Ray and his Amazing Animals will appear from 3:30-4:30 pm on Friday. Jackson Township and the Paul & Carol David YMCA present the Mad Science program for kids, “Spin, Pop, Boom” from 1-1:45 pm on July 27. Kids can watch gravity-defying feats and hear the exotic sounds of didgeridoo tubes. A burst of foam brings this event to a close.
Barb Craven of Craven Dance Studio will guide children in exercise, singing, and creative movement through music in a 45-minute session beginning Wednesday at noon. Gordon the Magician and his partner George the Raccoon will perform on Wednesday from 1-2 pm.

MAGNOLIA – Stark Parks continues its Summer Serenade Series on Thursday when the Canton Symphony Orchestra String Quartet will perform at 6:30 pm at the picnic shelter at Fry Family Park, 2533 Farber St. SE.

MASSILLON – Fulton Music Makers Channel will perform early music on Monday at 7 pm and Floyd Live on Thursday at 7 pm at the Duncan Plaza Amphitheater as part of the city’s Summer Concert Series.

NORTH CANTON: Arrowhead Talent Solutions has established a grant fund for local individuals and non-profit organizations.
The fund will allow mid-career individuals in the Stark County area to apply for a $2,500 grant to pay for continuing education. For nonprofit organizations, allows any organization in Stark County to apply for a $2,500 grant.

Hoover Park Festival
NORTH CANTON – The second annual Hoover Park Festival, presented by the Hoover Historic Center at Walsh University and Hoover, a major sponsor of the event, will take place from 1-5 p.m. on July 24 in Hoover Park, 1875 E. Maple St., across from Walsh University. The free, family-friendly community event honors the history of The Hoover Company and its impact on North Canton and Stark County.
This year’s festivities include history talks and self-guided tours, a garden boutique and plant sale, presentations on pollinators and invasive plant species, a performance by the Glen Oak High School marching band, activities and exhibits from the Stark County Beekeepers Association, North Canton Public Library, Stark Parks, and North Canton Heritage Society, as well as children’s storytelling, food trucks, raffles and giveaways, vintage cars from the 1920s, a vintage baseball game between the Fulton Mules and the Smithville Stars, and a special performance by the Hoover company’s original calliope.
Perry History Club to meet
PERRY TWP. – Christopher Craft, a local historian at the Massillon Museum, will speak on Civil War movies when the Perry History Club meets at 6 p.m. Monday. The program and meeting will be held in the lower level of the Perry Police Department Community Room, 622 Genoa Ave. SW. This is open to the public. A business meeting will follow at 7.
Photo club offers free public program
SUGAR CREEK TWP. – Professional photographer Terry Barnhill will present the program “Fundamentals of Composition” at the Wilderness Center’s nature photography club meeting at 9:30 am Saturday. Barnhill operated Mitchell’s Studio in New Philadelphia from 1981 to 2017, specializing in photography of seniors, families, children, weddings, and school activities. She is a life member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and holds the title of “Master Photographer”. He has been teaching and judging print competitions since the early 1980s, and is a PPA certified print judge. He is a member of the Tuscarawas County Art Guild, where he teaches photography classes.
