News wrap: Number of active-duty military suicides jumped 15% in 2020

The Biden administration is taking a more liberal approach to immigration enforcement. The new guidelines will target only those migrants who entered the country illegally since last November or who pose a threat to public safety. Then-President Trump instructed officials to pursue anyone illegally in the country. The new rules will be effective from November 29.

The number of suicides in the active-duty US military rose 15 percent last year to 580. The overall suicide rate rose only slightly. These figures are part of the Pentagon report released today. Officials say they saw no impact from the COVID pandemic.
