Neymar double wows fans in Qatar

DOHA ( Associated Press) — While one Neymar was about to return to the World Cup, another was coming home after a short — and tumultuous — stint in Qatar.

The real Neymar has recovered from an ankle injury and is expected to return on Monday in the round of 16 against South Korea. His double left the country after causing some mayhem with his public appearances.

Egon Oliveira, who calls himself “Neymar’s double”, was busy during his stay in Qatar, where he attracted a lot of attention as Brazil’s star.

It was difficult to distinguish between the double and the real Neymar when Oliveira was dressed in a Brazilian training kit and wore the same sunglasses, cap and beard as the striker.

He appears to have the same tattoos as Neymar and used to have a friend who used to dress as a member of the Brazilian Football Confederation staff. Some of his friends also came as his security guards.

A Puma store in Doha had to be temporarily closed during Oliveira’s visit, which attracted hundreds of fans. He was taken to the back of the shop till the matter calmed down.

There were also problems when stuntmen appeared at a game in Brazil and fans flocked for autographs and a picture. Before the game, some of the Brazilian players on the pitch looked up to see what was happening. In the end, security doubles out the stunt.

Before one of the games, Oliveira managed to sneak into the playing field, as some of the security guards apparently thought he was the real Neymar.

Oliveira has a million followers on Instagram and close to the same brand following on Tik Tok. He records most of his performances and posts them on his social media, where they quickly go viral.

Being Neymar’s lookalike has become a job for Oliveira. He has traveled the world imitating the player, including France where Neymar plays for Paris Saint-Germain. Earn money from your appearances and double player ads.

According to what he told Brazilian media, it all started when he worked as a waiter in a Brazilian restaurant and people started commenting on his resemblance to the real Neymar, which led to him being hired by an agency. placed on

He has met Neymar during some of his promotional shoots, and has said that the player was fine with him acting as his double.

“I never imagined this moment,” Oliveira said in a recent post. “I’m lucky to have come this far with work, I’m so grateful and I’m a fan of this person who welcomes my work with open arms. It changed my life in a huge way, I Gave me a million possibilities and opportunities, and allowed me to go places and meet people I never would have imagined.

Oliveira said he plans to return to Qatar if Brazil qualify for the semi-finals, so Neymar’s double could cause more chaos before the World Cup is over.
