“I don’t want this to happen to anyone else,” she said.

Susan of Bridport, Dorset, said Nikki “should never have been discharged” from the hospital last April.

She claimed that her daughter had collapsed in front of the nurses just two days before leaving. And she accused doctors of being unable to care for her – claiming it was “too much trouble”.

Susan said: “I was there with Nikki for two weeks. Every day, I told the nurses that she couldn’t go home.

“Her father David, who was dying at the time, told her that if they let her go, she would die – and she did.

No investigation was needed into Nikki’s death as a doctor recorded it from anorexia.

Susan said: “When a doctor trains for seven years, she gets an hour and a half of training in eating disorders.

“The money needs to go to specialist training for this sort of thing. That’s the key.”
