Nine unvaccinated Boulder Community Health employees face termination

Unvaccinated Boulder Community Health employees have less than 60 days to comply with the hospital’s coronavirus vaccination orders before they face dismissal.

The hospital announced in August that it will require all employees, including healthcare workers, volunteers, interns, students, business partners, independent contractors and suppliers who come or work at BCH facilities, to be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus by November. 1.

Nine employees from 2020 did not receive the vaccine by the deadline, Celani Pinnell, marketing manager for Boulder Community Health, wrote in an email. All medical personnel are vaccinated.

Pinnell said the hospital has yet to fire its unvaccinated staff. Written notices were sent to all unvaccinated staff members who did not receive an exemption. They have less than 60 days before they face dismissal.

Pinnell said there are 44 employees at Boulder Community Health who have been granted an exception for medical or religious reasons. They must wear a mask at all times and be tested for COVID-19 twice a week.
