Bloomington, IND. (NWN) — Reserve Diamond Johnson scored 19 points, and No. 2 NC State scored 11-2 late in the fourth quarter in a 66-58 win over 6 Indiana on Thursday night.
Kayla Jones scored 15 points, Raina Perez 13, and star center Alyssa Kunane fiddled with foul trouble to score 11 for the Wolfpack (7-1), who haven’t lost since their season-opening loss to No. 1 South Carolina .
Mackenzie Holmes scored 24 points for Indiana (5-2), whose only two losses have come against teams in the top 10. Hoosiers also came up short against Stanford.
Ali Patberg added 10 points for Indiana.
The Hoosiers led 23-21 at halftime and held it close throughout, leading within 48-47 on Alexa Gulbe’s 3-pointer with 3:44 remaining. But Jones responded with a 3 to begin NC State’s decisive run, and Wolfpack extended his lead to 59-49 with 53 seconds on Perez’s two free throws.
NC State shot 41.8% from the field and stopped Indiana on 33.8% of the shoots.
NC State: The Wolfpack beat their second top-10 opponent of the season. 8 Maryland in the Bahamas on Thanksgiving.
Indiana: The Hoosiers led at halftime despite shooting 23% from 3-point range, but their offensive struggles were ultimately too difficult to overcome.
NC State: Hosts Elon on Sunday before playing the Atlantic Coast Conference in Pittsburgh on December 10.
Indiana: hosts Penn State on Monday in their first Big Ten game of the season.
