New Delhi: The district administration of Etawah, UP has ordered liquor shops to give liquor only to those who have received the vaccine of Kovid. News agency ANI on Monday shared pictures of a liquor store, where posters have been pasted, stating: “Liquor will only be sold to vaccines.”
Liquor vendors in Saifai told the news agency that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate had instructed them not to sell liquor to those who have not been vaccinated against Kovid. “We are selling alcohol only after examining the customer’s vaccination certificate,” a shopkeeper told ANI.
The move is being seen as an effort to encourage people to take the Kovid vaccine in the district, where there are 298 active cases of infection. The district has so far recorded 13,777 cases and 279 deaths. The district has seen 13,200 recoveries.
Earlier, an officer of the tribal welfare department in a district of Chhattisgarh had issued an order to the employees saying that if they did not take the vaccine, their salary would be withheld for the next month. The order was issued on 21 May by Assistant Commissioner KS Masram of Gorella-Pendra-Marwahi district.
In the order, the officers and employees working in the offices, residential schools and hostels run by the tribal welfare department have been vaccinated and asked to submit the vaccination card to their office.
