Now You Can Hide Your Profile Picture And Last Seen From Specific People On Whatsapp
WhatsApp started working on a new privacy setting last year that would allow users to hide their ‘profile photos,’ ‘last seen’ and ‘about’ information from specific people in their contact list.
Its availability was limited as in the beta period, but the company has announced that it will eventually be released on iPhone and Android devices to all its users worldwide.

Until now, users had three privacy options for their profile photo, last seen, and information — Everyone, My Contacts, and Nobody. These are linked, according to GSM Arena, to a fourth option called ‘Except my contacts…’, which is also available for status privacy.

The new option allows users to show their WhatsApp profile photo, last seen and information to the people in their contact list, except those they want to exclude.

However, it’s worth noting that if someone doesn’t share their last seen with others, they won’t be able to see other people as well, such as read receipts, with the only difference being that the latter is always available for group chats. Will remain active even if they have turned it off.

To try out this new privacy control, you can go to WhatsApp’s Settings > Account > Privacy menu on iPhone and Android devices.

In addition to introducing a new privacy control, WhatsApp also announced some group calling features, allowing users to mute others and send messages to specific people during group calls. One can also see the banner when one joins the group call off-screen. (ANI)
