MATARAM-The Department of Animal Husbandry and Health (Disnakkeswan) NTB has again received the oral and nail disease (PMK) vaccine. “The allocation is 300 thousand doses. It has come this week,” said Head of the NTB Disnakkeswan Ahmad Nur Aulia.
Aulia said, the 300 doses of the vaccine were given in stages. A total of 150 doses have arrived at the beginning of the week and will follow 150 thousand doses this weekend. This gradual arrival is due to the limited capacity of cold storage.
“So as soon as the vaccine comes, we distribute it directly to regencies/cities,” he said.
Of the 10 districts/cities, West Lombok has the fastest vaccination progress with a percentage of 89.73 percent. After that, there are East Lombok and North Lombok districts with 76.48 percent and 73.85 percent respectively. For the bottom three, there are West Sumbawa Regency with 41.80 percent; Dompu 43.38 percent 42.9 percent; and Bima City 53.99 percent.
“It will continue to increase, especially since additional vaccines have arrived,” said Aulia.
Meanwhile, the Head of Animal Health at the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service (Disnakkeswan) of NTB, drh Muslih, prioritized PMK vaccination for healthy livestock. It can also be given to animals that have been sick with FMD, but are at least three months away from the livestock being declared cured.
“At the end of it all will still be vaccinated. But for now, we prioritize healthy livestock,” said Muslih.
The acceleration of vaccination by the provincial government is also to support the opening of the livestock market. Which will be strengthened by the application of biosecurity.
