NWN Source: Brown pardons Beckham for the second straight day

BERIA, Ohio (NWN) — Odell Beckham Jr. has been kicked out of practice for the second day in a row as the Cleveland Browns figure out their next move with a polarizing wide receiver, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Thursday. Told.

According to the person who spoke to the NWN on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, the team has not yet reached a conclusion about what to do with Beckham.

Cleveland could drop Beckham or bring him back, which seems like a long shot at the moment.

The Browns (4-4) visit the Cincinnati Bengals (5-3) on Sunday.

Beckham’s drama-filled stint in Cleveland may have come to an end after a few days of disbandment.

On Tuesday, Beckham’s father shared a social media post that highlighted the plays in which his son was open and quarterback Baker Mayfield didn’t bowl him the ball.

Brown told Beckham not to report for practice, and Mayfield later said he had not heard from his teammate. Mayfield said he was caught off guard by the video, which was released hours before the NFL trade deadline.

“I’ve had conversations with his father before, face-to-face, face-to-face,” Mayfield said. “I was very surprised by the video and the intentions and feelings behind it. I would be lying if I said otherwise. but hurt? no i’m fine I’ll be fine.”

Coach Kevin Stefansky also said he had not spoken with Beckham, who has not produced as expected since Brown’s arrival in a 2019 trade to the New York Giants.

Beckham has played only two 100-yard games in his 2 1/2 season with Cleveland. When he was hurt and sidelined due to a knee injury last year, Mayfield did his best, ending the Browns’ playoff drought and winning the playoffs for the first time since 1994.

On Sunday, Mayfield threw just two passes towards Beckham and it was a turning point for the 28-year-old.
