This year, “New Century Moon Festival Day” was announced by New York state legislators on stage performing the event.

Thomas Faggion, who represents the 13th legislative district, which also includes the city of Deerpark, accompanied Brebenec during his speech.
“I’m a neighbor, I grew up right here on Neversink Drive. And it’s great to be here today. The great thing about America is that we enjoy a shared culture in which being American means not only To be part of one’s personal heritage or lineage, but to be part of a society together. And that’s why the city of Deerpark is such a great place to live. We have people from all kinds of backgrounds from all over the world who come here who live together in peace, ”said Fagion.

The paintings Goldbetter saw “really represent the oppression of Falun Gong. It shows how dangerous an authoritarian regime can be towards a spiritual group of people,” she said.
“If you look around the practitioners themselves, it’s the aura, it’s beauty, even though they’re being tortured. They still hold to their faith. They’re not fighting back. They’re fighting for their morals. Staying true. And in the face of all the gruesome things happening around them, they are still holding this beauty within themselves,” Goldbetter said.
“Paintings are very powerful,” said Linda Kleinman of the paintings. “Tears in your heart.”
For those not aware of the persecution situation of Falun Gong, a spiritual group in China, she said that: “They need to know about it. They need to educate themselves and they need to get involved. , whether it’s monetary, whether it’s signing a petition, whether it’s contacting their local senator or their congressman, whatever the involvement means to that person. It’s important. It’s an important issue. Is.”
